Twigs and Hearts
Questioning what defines living and human, this podcast looks grief directly in the eye. With a seemingly harmless 50s sitcom, self aware existentialism, and the blur of reality, Twigs and Hearts mixes new and old to give horror an unsettling tweak.

ABOUT
Welcome to Shadowsfield, a segment in the audio drama portrayed as an old fashioned sitcom, comes with it’s own theme song, written and performed by Pluto M. It takes the idea of a mind controlled cast oblivious to the disturbing nature of their reality and how long it would take a conscious individual to fall into their bizarre patterns.
The rest of the show contrasts Shadowsfield with raw emotions, radio broadcasts, and witty back and forths. Our unlikely hero is Iris Jackson, a neurodivergent Singaporean-Australian who’s yearning crush for her missing friend isn’t the only reason she’s far away from home. Supporting her, through a skeptical mind, is her best friend, Zenith Rosen is a Jewish English teen with autism and a long complex relationship with grief.
Twigs and Hearts was created February 2021, and remastered in June 2022. The finalised version started airing in October 2023. Despite airing second, Twigs and Hearts was the first audio drama Cry MJ ever wrote. The show is inspired by well known stories in the audio fandom, Archive 81 and What’s the frequency. Also by Cry’s previous work in Seven of Hearts.
The show aims to centre disabled LGBTQ+ voices through characters and cast. It’s an international collaboration, with voice actors of many different backgrounds from all over the globe.
